Hot Water Recirculating Systems

A Watts Hot Water Recirculating System from Frontier ACE Hardware in Apache Junction is another great way to save water. This system silently recalculates hot water through your existing plumbing allowing for instant hot water, eliminating the usual “wait” for hot water. This is a medium complexity Do-it-yourself project!

Drip Water Systems

• Sprinkler Timers are a must to control the duration of watering. Water sensors, installed as option with your sprinkler timer, will sense rainfall and automatically turn off your sprinklers. A big water saver! DIY Project!

Leaking Toilets

Leaking toilets are the number one source of household leaks. Be sure to check your flapper valve and the flush valve assembly for leaks. A simple dye tablet in the tank can quickly indicate where the problem is. The fill mechanism can also have problems, causing a toilet that “never stops running”. Both the flapper valve and the fill valve are cheap and simple to replace. We’ll talk you through it, or arrange a handyman service to do it for you.

Planting Winter Lawns

Winter lawns in Phoenix are planted every fall. The seed type normally planted is Rye grass. Ace Hardware Phoenix stores carry a special hybrid rye blend from industry leader Berenbrug, called Winter Wonderlawn. Created for the desert area, this seed germinates faster, is very durable, is lush green, not soggy AND tends to use less water than regular annual rye grass.
